So That (~you ni)
〜ように
~ように expresses a goal or desired state — 'so that,' often used with potential verbs or non-volitional verbs.
Pattern
Potential verb / Non-volitional verb / ない form + ように | Noun + のように (like)
Explanation
~ように is used to express a purpose or goal, meaning 'so that' or 'in such a way that.' Unlike ために (which is used with intentional actions), ように is used with potential verbs, non-volitional verbs, or negative verbs — situations where the result is not directly controllable.
Common patterns: 聞こえるように大きい声で話す (speak loudly so that people can hear), 忘れないようにメモする (take notes so as not to forget). The key distinction from ために: use ように when the outcome depends on ability, possibility, or avoiding something.
~ように also appears in prayers and wishes: ~ますように (I hope that...). This is commonly seen at shrines and in New Year's wishes. Additionally, ~ように can mean 'like' or 'as': 先生が言ったように (as the teacher said).

話せるように練習する
Use potential form (話せる) with ように for goals involving ability. ために is used with volitional dictionary form.

日本語を勉強するように
ように follows a verb, not a noun. Add する for noun-verbs like 勉強.
Wrong

Correct
買うために店に行った
For directly controllable intentional actions, use ために, not ように.
